Couple of the Year 2006

Around the year 2000, when I (Jo Ann) was working for my brother at his video store, I saw a pan head yellow harley from the 50’s that was parked just outside the video store. Well, I got to tell ya, I wanted to sit on that motorcycle so bad. I went home and told David about it and it wasn’t long after that we got our first bike. It was a black ‘87 Virago 700 with studded saddle bags. Unfortunately, it just a bit uncomfortable for the both of us to ride. So, a year later someone at David’s job told him about this ‘87 Black Aspencade for sale. We looked at it and it was love at first sight.. We had the bike we wanted, now all we wanted was someone to ride with. In September 2003 Andy (Charles) Anderson told us about this group (GWRRA) that was having a dinner ride to Catfish Cabin. That’s when we met Myrtis and Tony Madaffri. They were so nice to us and everyone hugged and we all had a great time. We were hooked. At the Jingle Bell run that Christmas David spied Gary and Glenda Wagner’s green ‘95 Goldwing. It wasn’t long after we had to have it. Just so happens they were ready to upgrade to a 1800. Later that spring, we went on a bug run to Abbeville and Pat Forster went with us on her bike. David told me what I needed was a bike like hers. I was thrilled to hear that. Well I told Pat and she said her bike was for sale. I have been riding ever since and I just love it. We have really enjoyed being a part of Chapter J. We have made a lot of good friends and look forward to making a lot more. We are Assistant Chapter Directors, Raffle Coordinators, and we were named 2006 Couple of the Year.
