When Beau and I meet, we were regular four wheeling people, or so I thought. I later found out that he enjoyed motorcycling and had ridden most of his life. We ended up with a Goldwing after an innocent visit to a Honda dealership on business related to an ATV. Our stories vary on exactly what happened that day; but, I end up with all the “blame”. I suggested to him that the motorcycle at the front of the store was really pretty and if he chose to ride again, that is the kind of bike he should purchase. An over helpful salesman gave us a closer look at the bike and coaxed me into sitting on the big machine. His story is that I twisted his arm and made him buy the Goldwing. We became members of GWRRA the day we purchased the bike not knowing where either decision would lead us. Cheryl Moore tracked us down and invited us to our first meeting. The members quickly became excellent friends. There was even a Chapter ride to our wedding and we spent part of our honeymoon at a Region Rally. Beau enjoys bringing his camera to Chapter functions, documenting what we’ve done and seeing who he can catch off guard. Our pictures have lead us into becoming Historian/Scrapbook and Web Masters. The Chapter nominated us to be their Couple of the Year for 2005. When the Chapter became active in a new GWRRA program, in January, 2006, we volunteered for the duties of the Motorcycle Awareness Division (MAD). We both enjoy riding and want to ride for as long as possible; so, we have taken various rider/co-rider courses, acquiring our Masters Level IV. Looking back, it is amazing how far we have come and how many miles we have traveled since that day at the Honda store. |
