Craig began his motorcycling years on dirt bikes back when Evil Knievil was the coolest thing. Craig and several of his cousins all rode together through home made trails and huge home made jumps where he enjoyed lots of years of “boys will be boys” good times. I began riding motorcycles with my daddy, Dwight Palmer, when I was about 12 years old. If my mamma, Mavy Palmer, was working shift-work then I got to go. Daddy and I took lots of local trips (lots of breakfast rides-funny how things don’t change much!) and longer trips through Louisiana, Arkansas and Oklahoma. Craig and I bought our first Wing from my mom and dad, it was a 1986 Champagne 1200. Craig had gotten to know Steve Stewart through his work. Steve invited us to attend a chapter meeting. We were hooked. Everyone was friendly, lots of things were planned and everybody else liked Goldwings just like us – we felt normal and comfortable. Later we bought a 1995 Pearl Magenta 1500. In 1996 we served as Assistant Chapter Directors with David & Michelle Martin. We served as Chapter Directors in 1997 & 1998. Carson and Travis were quite young at this point and for the next few years after being Chapter Directors we just spent lots of quality time with them. Craig got the bike bug again, but tried a Yamaha V-Star this time. It was fun for a while but we got the bug for a Wing again - - comfort you know! So in August of 2004 we bought our most favorite bike so far, a 2004 Titanium 1800. Currently we serve with Gary and Glenda Wagner as Newsletter editors. We truly believe in what GWRRA represents and we absolutely love our GWRRA family! We look forward to many more years and miles together. |
